FACTORFIVE Skincare has introduced a dichloroacetic acid (DCA) version of its Renew Dermal Solution (RDS) chemical peel, replacing trichloroacetic acid (TCA) in the first step of the treatment. The reformulation responds to California legislation restricting cosmetics containing intentionally added TCA from January 1, 2027.

The two-step treatment retains its existing structure. While the RDS1 Penetrating Solution now uses DCA in the new formulation, the RDS2 Calming Solution remains unchanged, containing human stem cell conditioned media, copper peptide and botanical extracts.
FACTORFIVE will continue supplying the original TCA formulation in markets where it is permitted. The company will label the two versions separately and provide corresponding instructions to help practitioners identify the correct formulation.
The change allows FACTORFIVE to maintain its RDS treatment offering ahead of the regulatory deadline, while giving practices time to review existing inventory and prepare for the California restrictions.
